italian travels_2

the visa was finally issued and then started planning the trip. spent some time on the net and decided what to see. as this was a independant trip, without guide and tour operators, all planning had to be done sitting here but it was fun.
read up on italian phrases and printed a set. hardly had to use it though. except bon journo, grazie, per favore, preggo, ciao etc. however, having it increased confidence.
one great thing about inernet; had all addresses of tourist offices, bus routes, train timetables and could plan the trip exactly. how wonderful.
i discovered that the italian f1 race would be in monza on the fourteenth when i was to be in milan and decided to see it if possible.
the tickets are hopelessly expensive to decided to gate crash somehow. the race was to start in afternoon and was to be over by 5 pm. i could be back in milan by 6 and take the 7pm train to genoa which would reach genoa by 8.30 which looked good on paper.
bought a debit card. a new trolleybag and i was ready.
reached mumbai in morning and spent time visiting vasanta paranjape and others. nothing much to do.
